The approximately three thousand fans of the Israeli team Maccabi Tel Aviv are returning today, on planes made available especially for them despite it being Shabbat, after the attacks that took place in Amsterdam during the night between Thursday and Friday. The fans will be boarded on four planes departing from Schipol airport.
The Dutch government is investigating whether warning signals from Israel about possible attacks were ignored , Justice Minister David van Weel wrote in a letter to Parliament, Israeli media reported.
“An investigation is underway into the warning signals from Israel,” Van Weel said, adding that prosecutors intend to proceed as quickly as possible, with identifying every suspect “the top priority.”
Dutch Prime Minister Dick Schoof will not travel to Baku for COP29 to address the case : "Due to the strong social impact of the events of last Thursday in Amsterdam, I will remain in the Netherlands. On Monday, the events in Amsterdam will be discussed in the Council of Ministers, and on Tuesday, the fight against anti-Semitism will be on the agenda in the Council. In addition, on Tuesday I will have discussions with several Jewish and civil society organizations on the approach to anti-Semitism and the riots and concerns," Schoof wrote on X.
The procession in Milan
"A round of applause for the youth of Amsterdam. A round of applause for all the young people, boys and girls, who have taught a lesson." With these words shouted into a megaphone, followed by applause and even some whistles, the pro-Palestine march in Milan began. In addition to the Palestinian flags, a photo of Sinwar, the Hamas leader killed last October, was also displayed in the front rows of the march.
"These days we have seen how our brothers in Amsterdam, in Holland, have acted against Zionism. This is solidarity," the protesters chanted: "All the media said that these were anti-Semitic acts: what was brought to Amsterdam were anti-Zionist acts."
