An explosion near an outdoor cafe on Kudrinskaya Square in central Moscow killed three people and injured 15, according to TASS.
"Officers of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs' Main Directorate for Moscow are working at the scene of the accident, near Building 1 on Kudrinskaya Square. According to available information, an explosion occurred today around 8:10 PM near the outdoor cafe, resulting in three deaths and 15 injuries of varying severity," the press service stated, without specifying the cause.
An investigative task force from the Russian Interior Ministry's General Directorate, along with officials from the capital's emergency services, is working at the scene, Tass reports. According to Interfax, the injured are receiving the necessary medical care. Alexei Kuznetsov, a Health Ministry aide, told reporters: "The victims of the Moscow restaurant explosion are receiving all necessary medical care."
The restaurant was reportedly closed for a private banquet. According to the Astra website, a party for a general was being held there, and numerous cars with black license plates, meaning those belonging to military personnel, were parked near the restaurant. According to several Russian Telegram channels, also reported by Reuters, among those present at the event was Russian Air Force Commander Alexander Chaiko, who took office a month and a half ago. There is currently no official confirmation.
