There is agreement among the 27 on the key text on the crisis regulation of the EU Pact on migrants. This was announced by diplomatic sources in Brussels. The agreement on the text of the crisis management regulation was reportedly found after Germany agreed to return to the text formulated in July which contained no reference to operations conducted by NGOs.
Poland and Hungary spoke out against the agreement, while Austria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia abstained.
Great satisfaction was expressed in diplomatic circles for the achievement of the agreement which made it possible to define the Council's negotiating position in view of the negotiations that will open with the European Parliament.
«I welcome the political agreement reached by Member States on the crisis regulation. It is a real turning point, which allows progress in negotiations with the EU Parliament and the Council. United we can bring the Compact on Migration to fruition before the end of
legislature", the president of the EU Commission Ursula von der Leyen commented on the agreement on Twitter.
