The EMA has given the green light for the administration, when deemed appropriate, of the third dose of the anti-Covid Comirnaty vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech) for adolescents aged 12 years and over. This was announced by the European Medicines Agency itself.

The booster doses are administered to people who have completed the primary vaccination "to restore protection after it has vanished", Ema had already explained with the announcement, in early January, of the new indication being evaluated.

The European Medicines Agency also recommended today extending the use of Moderna's Covid vaccine to children between the ages of 6 and 11.

The dose to be used for children, reads a note from the EMA, must be approximately half of that expected for adults.
