Switzerland will ask Italy to reimburse 100,000 francs (approximately 108,000 euros) for medical expenses incurred by Sion hospital for the brief hospitalization of three Italian students injured in the Constellation fire in Crans-Montana.
This is what emerged from this afternoon's meeting between the Italian ambassador to Bern, Gian Lorenzo Cornado, and the president of the Canton of Valais, Mathias Reynard, who stated that he had no regulatory scope to cover the costs.
"Italy will not pay the medical expenses for the injured in Crans-Montana, for which Switzerland intends to request reimbursement ; our country has been responsible for the care of two Swiss citizens at the Niguarda Hospital in Milan for weeks, and the Aosta Valley Civil Protection Department participated in the rescue effort with its own helicopter in the early hours of the tragedy: there is a principle of reciprocity that must be respected," explains Ambassador Cornado.
