" When I gave those interviews I was confused, I was agitated and I couldn't sleep ." Considered one of the key witnesses in the investigation into the Constellation fire , Jean-Daniel Clivaz , owner of a well-known hotel and restaurant in Crans-Montana, together with his wife Nicole Bonvin Clivaz, deputy mayor of the town, retracted the statements he made in early January in several interviews .

When questioned today as a witness by investigators looking into the New Year's Eve fire at the nightclub that killed 41 people and injured 115, Clivaz did not confirm having spoken to Jacques Moretti or having warned him about the dangers of the sound-absorbing foam he had used to cover the ceiling.

According to some Swiss media, Clivaz then claimed that Jacques Moretti, during the renovation work on the Constellation in 2015, was aware of the danger posed by the acoustic foam , fixed to the ceiling via sound-absorbing panels.

" I told him, 'Be careful what you do , be careful what materials you use.' He calmly replied, 'Don't worry, I'm taking all the necessary precautions.'"
