Little Embla Ademi, on her way to school, had a very special chaperone for one day.

The 11-year-old girl was brought to the entrance, hand in hand, by the president of North Macedonia, Stevo Pendarovski.

In this way, the head of state decided to express solidarity with the child with Down syndrome, a victim of mistreatment and bullying.

And so he took her to school in Gostivar, her city in northwestern North Macedonia. The episode dates back to a few days ago, with Pendarovski who also went to visit the girl's family.

"It is unacceptable to threaten and endanger children, especially when they are suffering from physical problems and developmental deficiencies," Pendarovski said, as reported by the media. In addition to enjoying the same rights as their peers - he added - children with such problems must be able to "feel the same as others everywhere, including school".
