An incredible and disturbing story. It is the one that comes from Saugerties, in the Earl of Ulster (State of New York) and has as its protagonist a little girl, who disappeared in 2019, and found by the police, hidden in a secret room in the basement of the paternal grandfather's house.

The story is still being examined by the police, who are trying to put the pieces of the puzzle back together. According to reports, however, the little girl was allegedly hidden by her parents - Kimberly Cooper, 33, and Kirk Shultis Jr., 32 - who feared that the authorities would remove their custody.

Two and a half years ago, in fact, the little girl disappeared into thin air and the same parents ended up under investigation for kidnapping. The investigation, however, ended in a stalemate.

In a new inspection, this time in the house of the paternal grandfather (among other things already checked previously), the agents noticed a staircase "constructed in a strange way", directed towards the basement of the house. Upon closer inspection, two panels were discovered, which removed it was possible to access a "small, cold and damp" environment, where the detectives found not only the little girl - who is now almost 7 years old - but also her mother. .

The little girl was thus taken into custody by the police: she is in good health and was entrusted to her legal guardian and her older sister.

The parents, on the other hand, were arrested, accused of interfering with the custody of the child and endangering her health.

Also in trouble is Kirk Shultis Sr., 57, the grandfather of the child and owner of the house, who has always said he did not know where his granddaughter was, even at the time of the last and decisive inspection.

The girl's grandfather and father were then released pending trial, while the mother remains in prison.
