Once the polls are closed , in France the first party is that of the frustrated : it happens, after the initial euphoria of having escaped the danger due to the intervention of the Republican Front.

There are those who are disappointed because they were sure of winning, those who are dissatisfied with having had to vote for a party other than their own, and those who are doubly frustrated: those who donated their vote for the cause and now risk seeing themselves cut off from the management of the candies . This is what could happen to the voters of La France Insoumise. These are the days and hours of the procedures of the République , with the official deadlines to be respected, the observance of the constitutional rules. Yet, since Sunday evening everyone has been looking at those figures and, each within himself, adding them up: Popular Front without La France Insoumise, plus the Macronians, plus the Républicains. We can easily reach 350, more than 60 seats beyond the absolute majority. Automatic reflex: we can leave out the tribune Mélenchon and his excesses. At the moment everyone thinks so, but no one talks about it openly.

Officially, it is . We wait to see how many Insoumis will leave their boss after François Ruffin and Clémentine Autain. Or, more likely, if there will be space for the creation of a group of willing people within Lfi, perhaps large and determined enough to constitute a parliamentary group external to the Menchonian party. The answer will be available in the next few days, at the latest on 18 July, the day on which - according to the constitutional terms - the new Assembly must meet and the president be appointed. The disposition of the groups will be understood and the outlines of the new possible majority will emerge from the benches of the far left, the reformist left, the Macronian center and the Républicains right.

In silence at the Elysée, Macron confirmed - ultimately - his resigning prime minister Gabriel Attal, entrusting him with the task of "ensuring the stability of the country" . Probably until the Olympic Games (which end on 11 August) and perhaps the Paralympics (which end on 8 September), essentially until returning from the summer holidays .

Then he received representatives of his party, Renaissance, which is part of the Ensemble! coalition. There was talk of a coalition of moderates, of spaces for negotiation, of accessible counterparts. In front of the presidential palace, on Place Beauvau, the Minister of the Interior Gérald Darmanin received around thirty members of the majority for lunch. Darmanin, like Attal, has already made it known that he does not want to remain in the government and that he wants to dedicate himself to a new political project "on his own territory", the north of France. For both, although we do not know the details of the projects, it can be said that it is a repositioning in view of 2027, the expiration of Macron's mandate and the year of the next race for the Elysée.

The puzzle regarding the prime minister remains to be deciphered, it will probably take days . Not too many, warned Economy Minister Bruno Le Maire, because without a government and without a direction of travel we risk a "financial crisis" and "economic decline". He was supported by the French Confindustria, Medef, which called for "a legible and stable economic policy".
