French Prime Minister Sébastine Lecornu submitted his resignation to the President of the Republic: Emmanuel Macron accepted it.

This is according to a statement from the Elysée. Lecornu was appointed on September 9th and yesterday presented the composition of the new government, which had come under heavy criticism for the presence of numerous members of the previous government.

Lecornu was due to present his general policy statement to the National Assembly tomorrow .

Having already started at a slower pace than other European stock markets, the Paris stock market slowed sharply on the news, falling 1.7 percent.
