After a night of celebrations for PSG's victory in the Champions League , which resulted in violent clashes, especially on the Champs-Elysées and near the club's stadium , the Parc des Princes, the toll is one dead and several seriously injured , according to the Paris prosecutor's office.
The deceased, a man, was riding a motorcycle and apparently crashed into concrete blocks on an exit from the Périphérique , the Paris ring road, near Porte Maillot, not far from the Parc des Princes. Another person, seriously injured, is hospitalized with a guarded prognosis . Minister Laurent Nunez then announced the toll of injuries: "At the moment," he said, "we have 219 injured participants in last night's celebrations, eight of them seriously ."
"The vast majority," the minister added, "went out to celebrate, and everything went very well. But a few individuals—and they're not PSG fans, but people who don't even watch the games—went out to cause incidents and disorder. We're here to stop them. Our response is very firm."
