Like in the movies, he wrote a giant sos on the beach of the deserted island he ended up on after a shipwreck. And it was saved.

The incredible story comes from the Bahamas: a Dutch man who was stranded on an uninhabited atoll for three days after his sailboat was damaged while sailing was rescued by the US Coast Guard.

The incident occurred last Friday: the shipwrecked man, after having fired rockets from the stranded boat, reached the island of Cay Sal , an uninhabited part of the Bimini district of the Bahamas.

The authorities were sent to the area and managed to find him also thanks to that sign on the sand. First they threw food, water and a transceiver at him, then they recovered him - in good health - with a Coast Guard patrol boat.
