A technical problem with the air traffic control system is causing disruption to some flights across the UK . As the Guardian reports, some flights departing from British airports have been delayed following a technical issue with air traffic control provider NATS, Heathrow Airport said, adding that incoming flights were not affected.

Airports affected by restrictions and delays include Heathrow, Gatwick, Luton, Manchester, and Stansted . Heathrow said it was working with NATS to resolve the issue as quickly as possible, according to Reuters. "We have identified the issue in our flight processing system. Our engineers are on site and are working urgently to restore normal operations as quickly as possible," NATS said in a statement.

Edinburgh Airport said in a post on X that the issue could impact its operations. Dublin Airport in Ireland also said departing and arriving flights were affected. Flight tracking website Flightradar24 reported on social media that arrivals and departures were heavily regulated at airports in the London Flight Information Region due to the issue.

There are currently no repercussions on flights to Cagliari and Alghero. However, there are delays on two flights arriving in Olbia: the Easyjet flight from Luton, scheduled to arrive at 6:30 PM, has been postponed to 7:55 PM; and the British Airways flight from Heathrow, scheduled to arrive at 6:40 PM, has been postponed to 8:30 PM .
