Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei has called for a slowdown in the pace of development of artificial intelligence, stressing the need for greater control over its evolution.

"We need to slow the pace at which we improve the capabilities of AI models. Progress will still seem rapid, and we'll need to use the time we gain wisely," the entrepreneur wrote on his personal website.

The warning came just days after Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon announced his intention to leave the California startup. Coxon accused the company of downplaying the risk that AI development could pose to humanity.

Yesterday, it also emerged that OpenAI is also considering slowing the pace of development of its most advanced AI systems, given growing concerns about the risks associated with its control. According to reports, during an internal company meeting, CEO Sam Altman hinted that OpenAI might coordinate with other developers in the industry to reduce development speed.
