He abused some students , college mates of his daughter in New York for years, with violence and blackmail. Now, 63-year-old Lawrence Ray is sentenced to 60 years in prison .
The repeated sexual and psychological violence over time earned him the name of " College Monster ". Since 2010, Ray has subjected dozens of female students to sleep deprivation, humiliation, physical and verbal abuse "alienating the girls from their families and exploiting their weaknesses". The man, who lived in his daughter's room at Sarah Lawrence College , Yonkers, also forced a woman into prostitution , blackmailing her with some photos he had taken of her.
“For years, he has inflicted brutal and permanent damage on innocent victims . Students who had life ahead of them. He abused them into submission for his own gain,” prosecutor Damian Williams said. "It was sadism , pure and simple ," Judge Lewis Liman added in sentencing. His crimes were discovered after an investigation triggered by an article published in "The cut" magazine in 2019 and entitled "The stolen lives of the Sarah Lawrence boys".
