A tragic collision between ships on the Nile, with 80 Italians on board, claimed the life of a 47-year-old woman from Abruzzo, who fell fatally from her cabin.

Denise Ruggeri, 47, originally from L'Aquila, is the woman who died last night in Luxor in the collision between two cruise ships on the Nile.
The woman, a teacher by profession, was traveling with her husband and was injured after falling in the cabin during the collision.
Many other Italians were involved in the incident, with the Italian consul in Cairo, Giulia De Nardis, in Luxor today to closely follow the developments and the situation of our fellow citizens.
The honorary consul in Luxor went to the scene immediately after the accident.
The collision occurred about 30 kilometers from the archaeological site on the banks of the Nile around 7:00 PM local time. The victim was aboard the Royal Beau Rivage ship, which was carrying 70-80 other Italian tourists. The impact destroyed at least four cabins on the vessel and caused several passengers to fall into the water.
The accident occurred during maneuvers to pass through the Esna lock.
The Italian tourist reportedly suffered a punctured lung during the fall, and desperate attempts to take her to the hospital in Esna failed to save her life.
Egyptian authorities have opened an investigation to clarify the causes of the incident.
