Nine dead and 27 injured is the toll of the shooting that took place in Canada, in Tumbler Ridge, British Columbia at the foot of the Rocky Mountains.

Seven people were killed at a secondary school before the attacker who opened fire – media reports say a woman – took her own life before police arrived.

Police later found two more bodies in a home, two deaths believed to be "connected" to the school massacre. Officers are searching other homes and properties in the community.

“I am devastated” by the “horrific shooting,” Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney wrote in a message on X: “I join Canadians in expressing my condolences to those whose lives were forever changed today and in paying tribute to the courage and selflessness of the first responders who risked their lives to protect their fellow citizens.”
