The qualifying groups for the 2026 World Cup, which will take place in Canada, Mexico and the United States, have been drawn in Zurich.
But top-seeded Italy will have to wait until the Nations League quarter-finals against Germany (first leg on March 20, return three days later, on the 23rd) to know their fate .
In case of victory, Spalletti's team will end up in group A with Slovakia, Northern Ireland and Luxembourg . In case of defeat, they will end up in group I with Norway, Israel, Estonia and Moldova .
There are six groups of five teams and six groups of four. The 12 winners of their respective groups qualify for the World Cup , with another four places being awarded in a double play-off between the 12 second-placed teams and the four best Nations League teams not qualified from the groups.
