World Athletics Championships: first gold for Italy with Massimo Stano in the 35 km walk

First gold for Italy at the World Athletics Championships in Eugene, in the USA. And to take home the medal is Massimo Stano, Olympic champion of the 20 km walk.

He won the title in the 35 km.

Stano, a 30-year-old native of Grumo Appula, in the Bari area, of the Fiamme oro, a sports group of the State Police, finished ahead of the Japanese Kawano and the Swedish Karlstrom, with a time of 2h23'14, a new Italian record.
