The live music industry explored in all its nuances, revealing numerous career opportunities for young people: from Thursday, October 9th to Monday, October 13th, Sardinia Music Hub makes its debut, the first event dedicated to the sector on the island, offering workshops, seminars, and professional development masterclasses, scheduled between Sassari and Alghero. The Music Hub is curated by the Carta da Musica association, with artistic direction by Barbara Vargiu and organizational support from the Le Ragazze Terribili cooperative.

The aim of the days—defined as "more than a festival and more than a conference"—is to create connections in the region between young people, institutions, and professionals, promoting, alongside the educational objective, discussion and collaboration among participants. This is in line with the dual, challenging task of enhancing the skills of the new generations of industry professionals and developing live music in Sardinia as a central hub for the surrounding Mediterranean and European industries.

Thursday's opening

The first edition will open on Thursday morning in Sassari: at the 3M Musica store in Predda Niedda, located at Corso Margherita di Savoia 21, at 10:30 a.m., Gianluca Massaroni (Massaroni Pianoforti) will lead a workshop on classical piano tuning, with all two hundred strings being carefully crafted. In the afternoon, from 3 to 5 p.m., the City Council Chamber of Palazzo Ducale will host the roundtable discussion "Mediterranean Hub and Europe: Challenges and Opportunities," featuring Sicilian, Greek, Hungarian, Croatian, Baltic, and island guests, along with the president of Assomusica and institutional representatives, for a discussion on enhancing our shared Mediterranean heritage through shared cultural projects and transnational networks for culture and tourism. The day will conclude with a performance of Paolo Angeli's prepared guitar and the voices of the Tenores di Orgosolo, starting at 8:30 p.m. at Palazzo di Città.

Friday's program

The event will kick off in Sassari on Friday the 10th, this time with the "Io la musica sono" workshop, starting at 10:30 a.m. at the Spazio Music Hub on Via Roma 144. Led by Duilio Galioto, the workshop for students and artists will feature a reinterpretation of Monteverdi's "Orfeo," a dialogue between contemporary electronics and ancient Baroque music. This afternoon, two events will take place simultaneously: from 2:30 to 5:30 p.m., at the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences at the University of Sassari, the "Music Journalism" panel, in collaboration with the Order of Journalists of Sardinia and featuring speakers Silvia Danielli (Billboard Italia) and podcaster Marta Blumi Tripodi. From 3:30 to 6:30 p.m., again at the Spazio Music Hub, the "Writing Music: From Press Office to Music Criticism" workshop, led by Damir Ivic and Federica Ceppa, will take place, aiming to develop storytelling and music criticism skills. The final act of the day is at 9 pm, with "Live: new productions in the area," an event spread across three venues in Sassari. The program will feature artists Big D at 7 pm and Sara Porcu at 9 pm at The Room (hemiciclo Garibaldi 13), alongside sets by Jannemuru at Abetone Music Bar (viale Italia 1, from 8 pm) and Pierpaolo Vacca with Arrogalla at Quod Design (via Mercato 1b, from 9 pm).

Saturday, between Sassari and Alghero

On October 11th, the event will move to Alghero, with Alex Braga's masterclass-performance "From Bone to Artificial Intelligence" scheduled for 10:30 a.m. in the Hall de Lo Quarter. A second lecture, led by Alberto Leanza, will also take place there, starting at 2:30 p.m., exploring the new possibilities offered by AI for live music organizers and audiences. Both events are organized in collaboration with Linecheck. This will be followed at 6:30 p.m. at the Cyrano bookshop on Via Vittorio Emanuele 11, by the presentation of the book "I Festival Diffusi. Un nuovo formato organizzativo per le politiche culturali" by Silvia Tarassi and Andrea Minetto, the latter of whom will be present to discuss the topic with journalist Gabriella Grimaldi. The grand finale will be at 8:30 pm at the Palazzo di Città with the show "Io la Musica Sono," by Mario Tronco and fifteen other musicians, singers, and actors. This production, produced by Carta da Musica, features Dolci Accenti and Le Ragazze Terribili, a one-night crossover with the festivals Fino a Leggermi Matto and Note senza Tempo.

Monday's closing

After a break on Sunday, the day will return to Sassari on the morning of Monday the 13th, specifically to the Spazio Music Hub, where at 10:30 a.m., Fenia Galtieri will lead the workshop "Tour Live: The Role of the Tour Manager," exploring the role and skills of this professional figure. The workshop, again at the Spazio, will conclude at 3:30 p.m. with producer Pherro (Samuele Mascia), who will lead another workshop dedicated to music production, recounting the journey that led him to multiple platinum records and answering questions and curiosities from the young people in attendance.
