Employment slightly growing in Sardinia in the 2018/2022 period, with a slight decline in the inactive and a reduction in the unemployed.

These are the data that emerged at the regional conference for labor policies, the annual event organized by the regional department in collaboration with Aspal.

The inactive decreased in the period examined by 21 thousand units (-5%), the unemployed by 30 thousand (-30%) .

The employment rate in 2022 is below the Italian average, but above the average for the South. The figure grew in the period 2018-2022 by almost 2.5 percentage points , a higher value than the national average.

The most marked growth was recorded in the construction sector (the highest value in Sardinia: +17.6%) and in the industrial sector (+2.2%). On the contrary, the other sectors present negative values.

The data on youth unemployment rates are, however, positive: in Sardinia, from 2018 to 2022, there was a reduction of 8.6 percentage points .

Good signs can also be seen in 2023: in the first two quarters - said the general director of Aspal, Maika Aversano - the figures speak of an increase in the employment rate which stands at around 56% . With a still growing trend for the third quarter.

As regards contracts: permanent ones increased by 3% compared to 2022 while for fixed-term ones there was also an increase in duration, which went from an average of 107 to 120 days. Growth will continue until 2027, is the prediction of the president of Anpal Servizi, Massimo Temussi . «It is an unexpected, very positive moment. After the stop to the citizen's income there was no social bomb, the reform worked."
