Women's health starts from prevention, as it makes it possible to reduce the incidence of disease and mortality, and to promote the maintenance of well-being and quality of life. Among the main female ailments are gynecological problems, such as various irregularities in the menstrual cycle, endometriosis which affects 10-15% of women of reproductive age, and the papilloma virus (HPV) which is the main risk factor for cervical cancer (it is estimated that 80% of sexually active women can become infected with any type of HPV virus in the course of their lives).
One of the most diagnosed female pathologies is breast cancer: in Italy about 55,000 new diagnoses are estimated in 2020 and 12,500 deaths in 2021. Female well-being can therefore encounter various obstacles, but prevention is a fundamental tool: just think that with vaccination against HPV (if carried out at about 12 years) prevents the onset of an infection in almost all cases or that through the quarterly self-examination, mammography and breast ultrasound, with fixed fixed intervals, it is possible arrive at an early diagnosis of breast cancer, dramatically increasing the chances of recovery.
