With the New Year's celebrations closed, it's already time for sales.

In fact, the winter discount season begins tomorrow, the first major commercial event of the year: Sicily and Basilicata will lead the way, officially kicking off the discounts on Sunday 2 January.

From Wednesday 5 January, the season of purchases at discounted prices will start in Sardinia and in all the other Regions, excluding Valle d'Aosta (where the number three will begin).

On the island the sales will last sixty days and will end on March 5th.

According to estimates by the Confcommercio Research Office, the total turnover in Italy will be 4.2 billion euros, or an average of 119 euros per person.

Confesercenti has instead foreseen a higher budget per person, equal to 150 euros. In detail, 47% of consumers will purchase goods for a value of less than 100 euros, while 43% will spend between 100 and 300. Only 6% will pay between 300 and 500 euros, while 4% are ready to shell out more than 500 euros.

However, these are much lower numbers than those recorded before the pandemic.
