« On renewables I expected a more collaborative attitude from the Government ».

Alessandra Todde said this when she was heard by the Insularity Commission , speaking about the 18-month moratorium on new wind and photovoltaic plants challenged by the national government.

While acknowledging that the Sardinian energy mix is completely unbalanced towards fossil fuels, the governor highlights the need to ensure a "sensible" transition.

"In light of the 6.2 gigawatts of renewables that Sardinia is called to produce by 2030 according to the European Green New Deal, requests for 58-60 gigawatts had arrived. Furthermore, the regulatory vacuum on suitable areas has also made areas that were generally protected suitable. Hence our decision to apply a suspension until the proposal that we will bring to the regional council by the end of the month, with the aim of not promoting further use of land and dedicating already compromised industrial areas to the production of renewables ", explained the governor.

Then the attack against the government: «The request to suspend our measure is very burdensome and penalizing for Sardinia . We are trying to protect our territory by planning the transition where it is possible and where our communities accept it. This is precisely why I discussed the draft of the new regional law with the mayors. We would expect a more collaborative attitude from the Government on these issues ».
