The relationship with the future, narrated through images that subvert perceptions and conventions of representation: this is " After the Future ", a solo exhibition by the Sassari artist Giovanni Manunta , aka " Pastorello ", which will be on display from 24 to 28 November at The Social Gallery in Quartu Sant'Elena , in via Eligio Porcu 43. The works included in the exhibition are offered by the Giuseppe Demara Collection , in an exhibition curated by Ivo Serafino Fenu .
With the inauguration taking place this Saturday at 6 pm , "After the Future" aims to tear away the veil on archetypal visions of the future and the complicated relationship that arises from their evanescence. Organic elements coexist alongside artificial structures, along with archaic references and hyper-technological visions, in a balance as fragile as it has been intact . The result is suspended and fundamentally enigmatic worlds that open the door to different interpretations.
Painting is thus presented as an antidote to visual saturation and the infodemic, with gestures, erasures, and errors that restore art to a physical and temporal dimension, detached from the frenetic pace of the digital immaterial. The future is thus confronted by looking at the unexplored possibilities of pictorial language and its ability to question the viewer, all (for now) in the present.
Born in Sassari in 1967, Manunta is considered one of the leading figures of contemporary painting in Sardinia: with a research that develops between visual superimpositions and unexpected reversals of meaning , his works seek to eschew unambiguous interpretations, instead provoking a disorientation in the eyes and thoughts of the viewer. And with this solo exhibition dedicated to him, the fifth edition of V-Art Quartu Exposition , an exhibition project promoted by the Labor Cultural Association and directed by Giovanni Coda , will conclude.
