When reading your gas bill , it is important to understand how it is structured and which items contribute to the final cost. The main energy operator in Sardinia , Gaxa , supplies gas to the network in over 80 Municipalities , offering Sardinian families methane and, in the four main capitals - Cagliari, Sassari, Nuoro and Oristano - other gas networks (propaneted air).
The final price of the gas bill is made up of various cost items: the cost of the raw material , the cost of transport and management of the meter, the cost of system charges and taxes.
Expenditure on raw material
The cost for the gas material represents the variable part of the gas price and is influenced by the raw material and the supplier's offer. This item includes the invoiced amounts relating to the various activities carried out by the seller to supply the citizens with gas: the cost of the raw material, the transport of the raw material to storage and the fixed retail sale fee.
Expenditure for transport and management of the meter
The cost for transporting and managing the meter is established by the ARERA (Regulatory Authority for Energy, Networks and the Environment) and includes the amounts invoiced by the distributor to the seller for all the activities that allow the distribution and transport of gas to the homes of citizens, ensuring total network security. This expense item is divided into a variable portion , which depends on consumption, and a fixed annual portion .
St weighs for the system burden
The cost for system charges, established periodically by ARERA, instead includes the quotas intended for activities of general interest for the gas system (in the Region of Sardinia these items have an amount equal to zero for propane air), as incentives for sources renewables, interventions and for the development of distribution networks. The latter, the true pride of our region, are the latest generation networks and stand out as the most advanced in Italy.
Taxes
Finally, the item taxes includes the consumption tax (excise), and VAT which is currently set at 5% for all uses up to 30 June .
