Sergio Massidda wins the silver medal at the Phuket World Cup, a compulsory race for participation in the next Paris Olympics.

The 22-year-old from Oristano, vice world champion in the 61 kg, the category in which he will compete at the Games, yesterday stepped onto the platform of the 67 kg, non-Olympic "class", to avoid subjecting his body to the strain of losing weight.

Despite competing in a higher category, he still managed to assert himself and climb onto the second step of the podium: for him gold in sprint with 145 kg lifted in the third test after the 140 done in the first, bronze in sprint with 172 kg and silver in total with 317kg. For the Italian, already second in the Olympic ranking list in the category up to 61 kg with the 302 kg lifted in Riyadh, it was a formal participation which officially sanctioned the start of his "Road to Paris".
