The alarm came from Anbi (National Association of Irrigation Reclamation, which represents and protects the 7 Reclamation Consortia of the Island), which in a note underlined the water emergency faced by some areas of Sardinia with water, however , which «in many areas ends up in the sea» . As in the Tirso system , where due to a cumbersome dam testing system it is not possible to store more water than is actually available , with impressive data: every second two cubic meters of water, two thousand litres, end up in the sea .

An alternative, Anbi underlined, would be to channel the water towards the Flumendosa system through a pumping station, a lifting system that already exists and which should be reactivated to give water to the countryside of Southern Sardinia.

And precisely on this point comes today the reply from Enas , the Sardinian Water Authority, which first of all specifies how its actions take place "in accordance with legal provisions" , "taking care to implement the provisions given by the basin authority, which acts to protect the entire community and according to the rules given " and which first provide for the satisfaction of "requirements for domestic use", followed by "industrial and irrigation needs".

And with specific reference to the «transfer of water resources from Tirso to Flumendosa», Enas specifies, this is an operation that «has a cost of approximately 5.5 million euros per year, currently not present in Enas' budget , unless to use resources that are currently allocated to guarantee the supply of drinking water, a solution which however cannot be objectively considered in the absence of guarantees of new financing".

«It should also be remembered» continues the body, «that, unlike the other management entities, Enas, in order to guarantee greater revenues, cannot increase the sales tariffs of raw water , being obliged by a resolution of the regional council to apply amounts (6 thousandths of a euro per cubic meter for the agricultural sector and 2.5 cents for the drinking sector) absolutely below the costs and therefore not sufficient to support the supply of the resource and the management of the works of the multi-sectoral water system".

«Over the past few months – we read in the note from the Institution – despite the numerous reports made formally and informally by the Extraordinary Commissioner to the competent bodies, a solution capable of filling this deficit and guaranteeing the financial resources necessary for the management has not arrived. of the system".

«In order to have the necessary reassurances to obtain the necessary resources, Enas has already activated the appropriate contacts with the incoming regional administration», which «will certainly put on the agenda what is necessary to resolve the problem», the conclusion.
