The project is called “Small Villages, New Energy” and with cultural and sporting events it seeks to slow down depopulation and reinvigorate the local economy . For three days, from Friday to Sunday, Monteleone Rocca Doria will host “L'Acqua e la Roccia” an event coordinated by the Event Sardinia company of Checco Cadoni in collaboration with the Municipality of Monteleone Rocca Doria, the University of Sassari, the Pro Loco of Monteleone Rocca Doria and Ittiri and the Anemone Social Promotion Association, supported by the regional department of Tourism.
The opening day will begin on October 25th at 5 pm with Mayor Giovannina Fresi , who will present the program. A focus on the theme “Water and Rock”, curated by hiking guide Corrado Conca , will illustrate the natural beauty of the area to participants. Following the opening of the art exhibitions “Apparently” by Ivano Villiam Piva and “The Encounter in the Journey” by Roberto Ziranu.
On Saturday from 9am it will be possible to do various activities : sport climbing, trekking, kayaking and bike excursions. In addition, visitors will be able to try their hand at an exciting zip line course in the suggestive setting of Cava Su Giardinu.
All sports and creative activities will continue on Sunday, while starting at 5 pm the Cava will be the stage for the Lectio Magistralis by art critic Vittorio Sgarbi , dedicated to the painter Brancaleone Cugusi da Romana. The meeting will offer a profound reflection on the connection between art, culture and territory. To close the event in style, Piero Marras and his band will give an unforgettable concert, promising a musical experience full of emotions and involvement.
During the three days, visitors will be able to discover the Bread Museum, the ruins of the Medieval Doria Castle and the Via Ferrata, tasting typical local products at food stands curated by local restaurateurs and producers.
