The former goalkeeper, on the Cagliari bench in 2020 , in the midst of the Covid emergency, posted in his Instagram stories an excerpt from his biography "I was the spider man" (Cairo, released at the end of 2021) where he remembers with affection and a pinch of melancholy the months spent on the island (he arrived in March to replace the exonerated Maran and then left in August, not reconfirmed, with Cagliari except in 13th place ).
"In those days so difficult for the world - writes Zenga - I was able to truly and deeply appreciate an exceptional people, the Sardinian people . Also for this reason - he continues - I often thought of returning to live in those parts , where the eyes at first they may seem wary and suspicious, but they do it to hide a pure heart ”.
