A true manifesto of identity. The Voches 'e Ammentos Choir of Galtellì, directed by Maestro Pietro Marrone, celebrates its 25th anniversary by presenting Nois Semus Sardos tomorrow (at 7:30 pm in the conference room of the municipal amphitheater), its new CD that intertwines poetry, music, and identity, capturing the most authentic soul of Sardinia in choral form.
Along a path of research and dedication, "in which singing becomes a tool of memory, belonging, and community. It is not just a musical recording," the choristers emphasize, "but the sign of a collective journey that believes in the power of singing as both a foundation and a horizon."
Maestro Marrone and several composers have given life and harmony to ancient sonnets by anonymous authors and to the poems of Grazia Deledda, Antioco Casula Montanaru, Giovanni Secci, and Bernardo Zizi, sacred monuments of Sardinia's musical and poetic tradition. "The songs," emphasizes choir president Giovanni Vacca, "are intertwined with poetic metrics and become a collective voice, blending the power of writing with the soul of popular oral tradition."
