Vitiligo is a skin disease of unknown origin, possibly autoimmune. It is caused by an excessive reaction of the body's defense system that attacks, by mistake, the cells that produce the pigment that determines the natural color of the skin, thus causing the presence of white spots.
The disease affects about 1% of the world population regardless of gender or ethnicity and occurs more frequently after the age of twenty, although it can occur at any time in life.

Vitiligo therapy aims to restore the natural color of the skin. The aesthetic aspect caused by the disease can represent a great psycho-emotional problem for patients.
The talk "15 minutes with ..." is edited by Aou Cagliari News, the newspaper of the university hospital. Agile and simple format, it provides 15 minutes of question and answer with the specialists and the possibility for the public to ask questions live.
