The historic Vinitaly review, scheduled until Tuesday, opens today at the Verona Fair, in attendance but in a "special" edition for operators.

The goal of the 2021 edition is to push wine exports to the 7 billion euro export threshold by the end of the year, "and in recent months, also thanks to this event dedicated to B2b, we can give a concrete support to the market ", commented the director of Veronafiere, Giovanni Mantovani.

At the event there are 400 exhibitors "representing the best of the ranking of Italian companies, in terms of size and quality and there will be 200 qualified buyers from all parts of the world, with an important return, somewhat surprisingly, from China. ".

THE "VIGNETO ITALIA" SALON - Inside the exhibition there is a large exhibition dedicated to the origin of wine: the "Vigneto Italia" salon, created by Coldiretti to discover the great biodiversity and quality from which the most prestigious bottles of wine are born Made in Italy.

They range from the Monica grape brought to Sardinia by the Camaldolese monks to the Venetian Rondinella, so called because it is black like the feathers of the swallows, from the Emilian Ancellotta to the rare Campanian Asprinio, which rises up to 15 meters in height.

"On the national territory - explains the trade association - there are 608 varieties registered in the vine register against the 278 of the French cousins, demonstrating the rich biodiversity heritage on which Italy can count, which boasts the possibility of to offer local wines of the highest quality thanks to a millenary tradition ".

"From Molise comes the Tintilia, a rustic mountain vine which - Coldiretti underlines - resists well to the cold, to diseases and to the attack of molds, recently rediscovered for the production of the red Tintilia del Molise. In the Lombard vineyards, varieties such as Bonarda, a sugary flavor, or Croatina known for its remarkable resistance to vine parasites, both protagonists in many wines with denomination from Bonarda to Oltrepò Pavese ".

"Autochthonous at the top also - continues Coldiretti - in Friuli Venezia Giulia like the Picolit with very limited productions already cultivated in the Roman imperial era, which had the honor of delighting the palates of popes and emperors but also writers such as Carlo Goldoni, or the Schioppettino, which takes its name from the fact that it becomes slightly sparkling during fermentation, giving the impression, both in the ear and in the mouth, of crackling due to the carbon dioxide developed. The Venetian Glera is the star of the Conegliano Valdobbiadene hills, declared heritage of humanity by Unesco, but also the grapes from which Prosecco is born, the most popular Italian wine abroad. And gradually, all the other bunches from the different vineyards of the Peninsula ".
