The stands of the island companies will be hosted in Pavilion 8. But another important opportunity for Sardinian wine excellence to show off will also be the events of “Vinitaly and the City”, the “fuori-salone” event, scheduled from 4 to 6 April, which precedes the actual exhibition.
Here visitors "will have the opportunity to discover wine excellence through tastings led by expert sommeliers, Wine Talks and Wine Speeches conducted by Wine Specialist Sissi Baratella."
"For the first time, the Sardinia Region is participating in the off-Salone "Vinitaly and the City", an event of extraordinary importance that allows us to bring our wine culture to one of the most prestigious showcases of the national and international wine scene - says the regional councilor for Agriculture Gian Franco Satta - and with this first participation in the event we want to send a clear message: Sardinia is there, with its wines, its history and its vision of the future".
THE PROGRAM – The focus of Sardinian participation in the off-salon during the two Wine Talks “Born in Sardinia” , scheduled for Sunday at 3pm and 6.15pm in the Flover Lounge in the Cortile Mercato Vecchio, will be two of the most representative native vines of the island: Cannonau and Vermentino , «identifying expressions of the regional winemaking tradition and of the territories».
Among the topics covered during the off-site event will also be the pairings between the different types of local wines and the products of the island's dairy, confectionery, fishing and cured meats tradition, curated by the Department of Agriculture - with contributions from experts, sommeliers, food and wine journalists, producers and food writers - and the presentation "Diffusion and promotion of ungrafted viticulture in Sardinia" curated by the Laore Sardegna agency, the University of Sassari with the Department of Agriculture, Assoenologi Sardegna, the Italian Sommelier Association - Sardinia, and with the patronage of the National Academy of Vine and Wine, CERVIM, the national committee for the protection of "Ungrafted Vine" and the Cities of Wine. Also on the program are the project “Cannonau: young wine” curated by the Sardegna ricerche agency , in collaboration with Assoenologi Sardegna, Vinoway, IULM and Stevie Kim, in-depth studies on wine tourism and the presence of Gal and Consortia.
IDENTITY AND INNOVATION – «We are ready to make the value of our wine production increasingly known and recognized – adds Satta – with the awareness that Sardinian wine is not only a product of excellence, but the authentic story of a unique land and its extraordinary ability to express quality, identity and innovation».
OPPORTUNITIES FOR COMPANIES – «Being present at Vinitaly represents a clear signal of the desire to invest in the growth of the wine sector, a strategic sector for the regional agricultural economy . Our commitment is to create more opportunities for Sardinian companies, providing them with tools and contexts suitable for promoting and enhancing their work - concludes Councilor Satta - our presence at the event is not limited to a simple promotional showcase, but is part of a broader development path, which aims to consolidate the positioning of Sardinian wines on national and international markets , through targeted initiatives and strategic promotional actions».
