Sardinian wine production on display in Verona at the 58th edition of Vinitaly.

There will be 112 companies from the island present at the prestigious international event dedicated to "made in Italy" wine, eighty of which will be hosted in the Region's pavilion, in addition to another 32 wineries that will present their products at other stands.

"In a context that highlights the uniqueness of our products, the first fact is the many trade agreements signed between our producers and buyers from around the world," said Regional Councillor for Agriculture Francesco Agus at the event's inauguration. "Vinitaly is a world-class showcase, it is still the main wine fair in the world, and Sardinia presents itself with many production companies, some very large and well-established, others established just a few years ago but already dealing with international markets . The Region's desire is to support this push by producers but also to systematize this colorful world and ensure that this is not an isolated episode or simply participation in a fair, but that we consider how to create an economic system around wine."

Seven institutional events are planned for Vinitaly 2026, promoting talks, insights, and tastings of local wines. The aim is to highlight Sardinia's position as a leading region in viticultural biodiversity and, beyond impressive figures, to highlight the added value of the "Sardinian model," with its longevity, uncontaminated territory, and unique native grape varieties.

Among the events is "Cannonau: Young Wine," curated by Sardegna Ricerche: "The topic of young people and wine, of conscious and healthy drinking, is central to any discussion," explains Agus. "And as the Sardinia Region, we wanted to conduct an experiment. Instead of focusing on young people, we gave young people a voice. A research project was conducted around the flagship grape, Cannonau, and is being presented today by the young people who conducted it."
