New recognition for the traditional bread of Villaurbana. Elena Lai, owner of the “Pintau – Su Pani fattu in Domu” bakery, received the “Best Traditional Bread” award during the contest organized in Nuoro by the International Federation of Pastry, Ice Cream and Chocolate (FIPGC).

Lai, in the "Traditional Bread" category, presented on "Civraxu", made according to tradition. «One of the typical breads of Villaurbana – comments the winner – and also one of those that we sell the most».

The award was conferred by a jury made up of 6 people: two were part of the popular jury, two bakers and baker teachers and two other exponents who distinguished themselves by having won a national award for the most innovative bread and for stuffed bread.

"The aesthetic aspect of our Civraxu was appreciated, but above all the particular aroma and consistency due to the exclusive use of sourdough and zero-kilometre semolina". During the contest, different types of bread were evaluated, presented from different areas of Sardinia, such as in pane carasau or coccoi.

«The greatest satisfaction - concludes Lai - is certainly to see our product appreciated also by the great professionals of the sector. We try every day to improve ourselves without resorting to shortcuts as regards the very long leavening times and in the management of the sourdough, using excellent raw materials even if they are not cheap. And this award makes us understand that we are certainly following the right path».
