An independent experimenter with an original and recognizable stylistic figure, Giovanni Coda combines cinema, photography and performing arts, with multiple references ranging from Greenaway to Pasolini, from Pina Baush to Bill Viola and from Lachapelle to Erwin Olaf, with the constant of a narrative voice off-screen which, like in a diary, tells the issue examined without filters.
To the 30 years of artistic activity of the award-winning photographer and director from Cagliari he dedicates an anthology S u Palatu of Villanova Monteleone. The exhibition will be inaugurated on Saturday at 17. It will be open for free until 25 March.
It is the stage that closes the tour on the island "With the clouds in the head", curated by Mariolina Cosseddu , with the collaboration of Roberta Vanali. On the opening day, the film "The story of a tear" inspired by the novel "Ocean Terminal" by Piergiorgio Welby, edited by Francesco Lioce will be screened.
Giovanni Coda explains: «With the exhibition of the anthological exhibition in this last stage in Villanova Monteleone, the wonderful recognition in London as "Best Director" for "The bride in the wind", and the presentation in Seattle and in Sardinia of this new film that closes the trilogy dedicated to gender violence with many appreciations, this photographic exhibition represents for me another important piece that closes the cycle - which began about a year and a half ago - of my new thirty years of artistic activity».
