“It's one of those songs you listen to in the car, with the window down, on your way to some new place, on your way to a new adventure.”
This is how Maria Paolucci defines her "Viaggio", a single that celebrates the explorer soul of the well-known Sardinian tourist guide and travel creator with 130,000 followers, released on January 26th on all digital stores and streaming platforms. Tireless narrator of the wonders of Sardinia, Paolucci opens a new chapter in her life by debuting as a soloist with the piece written in collaboration with Zeep and produced by Mark Tembo, which is also the theme song of her first television program "In viaggio con Maria Paolucci" which went on aired on Tcs last October. “Viaggio” is a musical experience that blends harmoniously with Paolucci's passion for exploration, a hymn to freedom and adventure. Not everyone knows that for the young woman it all started right there. From music.
When did you start singing?
«I have cultivated this passion since I was 4 years old. At 12 I started taking singing lessons and, thanks to my teacher, I started doing my first auditions for the most important Italian music programs. I participated in “Ti lascio una canzone”, Antonella Clerici's program, and I continued, singing in a duo, with auditions for xfactor, Amici and Sanremo for several years. They were wonderful experiences but, despite managing to overcome several steps, reach the national semi-finals, and obtain the famous "4 yeses", I never made it to the live shows. The arrival of the pandemic interrupted my musical journey, but the passion has never left me, and now this seemed like an unmissable opportunity to return to music as a soloist. With a song dedicated to my land and to travel lovers!".
In the meantime he created his new job...
«During the pandemic I started to approach the social world, and from there my life changed. I had already dedicated my studies 100% to tourism, because I knew I wanted to enhance my land in some way. After my degree in "Economics and management of tourist services", the master's degree in "Hospitality and marketing of the territories" and the master's degree in "Design and management of tourism systems", which I concluded with a thesis on the valorisation of the mining heritage, I understood that that was my path. I am from Domusnovas, one of the most depressed areas of Sardinia. My grandfather was a miner and my grandmother grew up in a mining village, and that world has always fascinated me. So I chose to dedicate myself as much as possible to making it known and appreciated. After the three-year course I became a guide, and from 2019 to 2021 I worked in the Iglesiente mining area. Then I decided to open my own business. Social media had started to give me very wide visibility and my videos reached 200 thousand views. People started asking about me, and so a community was born with which I explore Sardinia and, this year, I will make my first group trip to the Philippines."
What do you think your followers like about the format you bring to social media?
«I believe that the key is passion, which I hope to pass on to the people who follow me. I really love Sardinia and I love what I do. I want to make every excursion a real experience, and make people feel pampered and welcomed. Furthermore, all my contents are made completely by me, videos, filming, editing, texts and ideas. I have studied and work hard to offer those who rely on me the most authentic experience possible. I want to inspire people to explore the world and follow their passions, demonstrating that every journey, whether through landscapes or musical notes, is an experience to be fully embraced."
