In Quartu, art takes to the streets and becomes an urban revolution. From 12 to 15 June 2025, the Via del Mare, one of the busiest arteries in Sardinia, will be transformed into an open-air museum thanks to the third edition of the Street Art Week, an event conceived by Officine Verticali and the Centro Commerciale Naturale La Via del Mare, with the support of the Cittadinanza Attiva OIKOS association.

The heart of the initiative is the “Urban Evolution” project, which aims to create a permanent urban gallery: the protagonists will be digital works created on washbasin covers, small urban totems transformed into art supports. The goal? Reach 30 artistic installations by 2026.

Applications for artists are open until May 31st on the website streetartweek.eu , and participants will be selected by a double jury: popular and technical. Among the names of the commission: La Fille Bertha, Alessandro Macciocco, Valentina Vinci, Marina Brunetti (Marinetti) and Myriam Quaquero.

The top three will receive cash prizes (1000, 600 and 400 euros), but all artists will have the opportunity to participate in a widespread vernissage hosted inside the commercial activities of the street, which for the occasion will be transformed into small temporary galleries.

With the “Fuori Vetrina” project, even the shop shutters will be urban canvases, decorated by selected artists who will receive compensation, food and accommodation . A way to combine creativity and local business, creating beauty even when the shutters are down.

The event will be a real urban festival: workshops for children, itinerant shows, break dance performances and 30 musical events will liven up the evenings until midnight. Everything will take place on a mobile stage set up on a van, hosted by the rapper from Quartu SuWoha.

Also scheduled are three contests: two musical and one live painting, which will culminate on Sunday 15 June with the final event “Revers”, hosted in the new Michelangelo Pira space in via Brigata Sassari.

Street Art Week will involve over 100 people including artists and staff and already 15 local businesses have signed up to host events and exhibitions.

"Street Art Week 2025 is a project that focuses on community, art and urban regeneration - explains Luca Stocchino, president of CCN La Via del Mare - with the ambition of becoming a regular event in the Sardinian cultural panorama. Our goal is to build a real permanent urban gallery, also in view of the tourist season with the Summer Is Back project".

The initiative is supported by the Fondazione di Sardegna, by the Municipality of Quartu Sant'Elena – which purchased the stations to be used.
