Vermentino di Gallura is the best-selling wine in Italy in the past summer.

It recorded 8.5% of sales in June, July and August. Immediately after there is the Grillo di Sicilia (7%), then the Lugana di Lombardia (6.5%).

The data were collected by the Edoardo Freddi International Observatory and processed by the Communication and Study Center of Cipnes Gallura.

Vermentino has won over English and American tourists in particular: the result obtained is in fact largely the result of purchases made by foreigners in hotels and restaurants on the Costa Smeralda.

Vermentino di Gallura, the only DOCG in Sardinia, was also the first in terms of sales in the Fine Wine category, i.e. those wines of the highest quality at high prices and in some cases, as the research observes, collectible. With a share of 12% it surpassed wines such as Barolo, which stands at 9% of sales, Brunello di Montalcino with 7% and Amarone della Valpolicella with 6%.
