«I am convinced that we will be able to obtain more than 3% of the votes nationwide. Overcoming the barrier, we should have a good chance of electing at least one Sardinian ». A Sardinian, to be honest, given that Francesca Ghirra is the leader of the Green Left Alliance in the plurinominal of the single board of Sardinia for the Chamber. Ghirra, 44, municipal councilor in Cagliari dei Progressisti and mayor candidate defeated by the "brother of Italy" Paolo Truzzu, former councilor for strategic and urban planning in the council of former mayor Massimo Zedda from 2016 to 2019, predicts a good result of the his list in Sardinia: «When we were Sel we reached 8%, the Sardinians know us and esteem us for our skills. Then you know, the ballot box often brings surprises and now the polls don't hit us any more », Ghirra sighs.

There is a strong center-right wind, at least so it seems.

«I do not believe in a triumph of the right at all: especially in Cagliari, where the mayor Truzzu demonstrates the same inability to govern and give answers to the territories that also characterizes Solinas at the helm of the Region. If the right wins, Italy will take many steps backwards with the privatization of health and public services. A right-wing government would mean a retreat on civil rights and for women ”.

The fact remains that the center left is anything but favored.

«Well, to tell the truth we trusted a lot in the wide field, instead it is the right that arrives united at the polls and therefore has more chances than the fragmented left. But, as I mentioned, the urn often creates surprises: sometimes we like them, other times much less. There are only a few days left to vote, and many voters decide in the last week ».

So tighten the timing of the election campaign.

“We are doing it in as many territories as possible and using social networks, but unlike many others we propose our themes, which are national, but declined in a Sardinian key. We also organize meetings on social networks: we talked about youth policies, transport, work, the right to health and the environment, we will talk about rights and sport ».

What do you think of territorial continuity?

«The biennial announcement of the Region does not satisfy the needs of Sardinia, in fact from the 1st of October the flights have been halved. The offer of flights in territorial continuity should be differentiated by periods: apply it in the months when there is little demand and leaving the free competitive market in the summer season. And then we need investments for transport in Sardinia ».

Can insularity in the Constitution help?

“It still has to be filled with content, but that's what we're hoping for. And we will see to it that it helps ».

Which Sardinian emergencies do you want to work on?

"First of all work, together with the right to health and environmental policies".

Do you like Citizenship Income?

“Yes, as long as we consider it for what it is: a sacrosanct support for poverty, not an active policy for work. It was a mistake to confuse the two systems, because they are measures that must remain distinct. It is a duty to support those who do not make it to the end of the month, but those who cannot find it must also be introduced into the world of work, even with training and job placement and with the requalification of redundant workers and those who have found themselves expelled from the world of work . The right wants to reset the citizen's income, but we are against it, underlining however that alone is not enough. Support and employment policies can and must coexist, they are by no means incompatible ”.

Italy pays more for energy than other countries because it does not have nuclear power.

“And we of the Green Left Alliance continue to be extremely opposed to nuclear energy, in fact we are focusing on renewables. Any plant that will be installed on the island, however, must be for the benefit of the territories that host it, without giving way to the usual colonialism of investors who think only of their own profit, exploiting our territory and the funding of the European Union. And then we focus a lot on energy communities, which allow great savings on citizens' bills ».

Meanwhile, however, even the Sardinians are fighting against the expensive bills.

“And we want to give answers. We aim for adequate salaries on the basis of a minimum wage of ten euros per hour, on pay slips of no less than 1,200 euros to allow Italian and Sardinian families to have a dignified existence. We are very focused on work: unemployment and insecurity are plagues of Sardinia. And then, specifically for bills, I reaffirm our commitment to renewable energy sources ".

It is the theme of the ecological transition.

«Of course, and it must be an opportunity to convert our industries that are not producing and at the same time retrain those who have lost their jobs or are on layoffs: training courses for a new job. And then we want paths for agriculture thanks to the reclamation of former military and former industrial sites, also allocating those areas to forms of economy linked to the reuse of waste, the digital industry and other opportunities ».

How is the Sardinian health care ?

«Bad, it is a theme to be revised. The PNRR offers opportunities for territorial medicine, but the Region does not notice it. Regional Health does not give answers to all territories, we need more capillary aids with first aid and for minor surgical interventions. This is why we are against the flat tax: it would reduce revenue and, in Sardinia, we pay the Healthcare with regional funds ».
