“Ne vedremo delle belle” seems to have been created specifically for Valeria Marini. In the new Rai1 talent show, starting on Saturday in prime time, 10 leading ladies of the entertainment industry will compete in singing and dancing tests, which for the Roman artist who grew up in Cagliari, the city of her mother Gianna Orrù, is daily bread, and musical.

But also in interviews and in the so-called “derby”, or surprise challenge. It is easy to think, in the latter case, of a comparison with Pamela Prati, the other Sardinian competitor of the Endemol Shine Italy and Rai program, written by Carlo Conti together with Ivana Sabatini, Emanuele Giovannini, Leopoldo Siano and Mario D'Amico with the collaboration of Mattia Bravi and the direction of Maurizio Pagnussat. While it is in the interviews that Marini could surprise. «It is a test that I find very stimulating: it is a new way of proposing yourself, and for me it would not even be the first time», reveals the showgirl, actress and entrepreneur, born in 1967. «I remember the ones I did on “Domenica In” with Pippo Baudo: I had chosen to interview only women, important people like Nicoletta Mantovani and Patty Pravo, and everything worked well». The “opponents” – in addition to Prati, Matilde Brandi, Laura Freddi, Lorenza Mario, Veronica Maya, Angela Melillo, Patrizia Pellegrino, Carmen Russo and Adriana Volpe – have been warned.

First impressions?

"I was born in the theater: I arrived at the show with Ninni Pingitore, who opened the doors to me, and for this I will never stop thanking him, and from there I returned to the cinema and the theater, but I am super happy with this new project and proud to participate in a television show in which, I hope, female solidarity will emerge, also because during the rehearsals I saw a lot of it. There is a great atmosphere. Of course, it is a competition, there will be no shortage of competition and each of us will aim to do our best, but I hope for healthy competition."

Expectations?

"When they proposed it to me I didn't hesitate to accept, also because of the absolute respect I have for Carlo Conti, his writing group and the director, who sign successful talent shows, and I say that it's a great bet, a new show formula for which I postponed a project I had in Spain. It's better to have expectations in moderation, because, no matter how much one may have studied and worked hard, you never know how things can go. In fact, the formula provides for the vote of the jury and the vote of the other contestants: as far as I'm concerned, when it's my turn to vote I will maintain my impartiality, without sympathies and without making calculations".

Who fears the antagonists?

"Not to be afraid. We all know each other more or less, maybe I'm less familiar with Patrizia Pellegrino, and I think that in the end the character of each of us will emerge, with positive and negative sides. Instead, I trust in the mutual respect that a healthy competition, which I hope and think will emerge along the way, involves beyond strategies."

His extra weapon?

"On paper I think I'm quite strong. I should be more strategic, but instead I always come out for who I am, like a true Sardinian. But maybe it's better this way, because character is fundamental. I'm not calculating, for me everything is very immediate, and that's also why I'm very happy to participate in this program, which came in a very difficult period for me, in which I had thought about leaving the show for personal reasons. I was discouraged, and this project gave me courage again: for this I thank Carlo from the bottom of my heart."

Of the tests, which one worries you the most?

"I'm ready for anything. I'm studying and preparing because I want to do the best I can, beyond the final victory: the public's consensus will already be a success."
