Spending for Valentine's Day is growing.

According to estimates by Confesercenti, which carried out a study conducted by SWG on a sample of a thousand Italians aged between 18 and 65, consumption forecast for Valentine's Day is increasing.

Over ten million Italians will celebrate it tomorrow, who on average will spend around 71 euros per person on dinners, flowers and other gifts . This is a budget that is recovering not only compared to the numbers recorded in recent years, marked by the crisis linked to the Covid-19 epidemic, but also when compared to that of 2019 (+35%).

The bouquet of flowers remains a timeless tradition of February 14: just under one in four lovers (23%) will resort to the floral gift, bought in the shop or at the market. The most requested flowers this year will be tulips, gerberas, anemones, ranunculus and orchids.

The red rose will in any case remain the queen of this celebration even if this year, even if it "suffers from the price increase due to high energy costs", declared the president of Assofioristi, Ignazio Ferrante. Lastly, the trade association underlines that the phenomenon of unauthorized use is also on the increase, with 6% of those celebrating will buy flowers wherever they happen, even from irregular street vendors.
