Vaccines in pharmacies, more funds for mental health and 30 million for research: the measures in the Council

Flu vaccines in pharmacies, more funding for diseases such as thalassemia and mental illnesses and investment in research.
These are some of the measures regarding healthcare adopted today by the Council, as claimed by the President of the Region Alessandra Todde.
" The allocation of over 59 million euros per year has been defined for interventions aimed at people with certain pathologies (thalassemia, hemophilia, nephropathy, mental illnesses, malignant neoplasms and non-renal solid organ transplant recipients) - Todde underlines -. The resolution places special attention on the issue of mental health, with the creation of a technical table to requalify interventions in favor of integration and involvement ".
Furthermore, "we have authorized the expenditure of 5 million in 2024 to financially support the Municipalities with the expenses for the placement of minors in residential facilities".
Green light for financing "the experimental agreement between the Department and Federfarma Sardegna for the administration of flu vaccines in the pharmacies of the Island, thus allowing for widespread distribution. The trial will involve 10 thousand citizens who will be able to get vaccinated - without charges - at participating pharmacies".
Simplified "the provision of regional funding to reception communities for young adults and adults subjected to restrictive measures on personal freedom".
"The distribution of the Social Policy Fund for the year 2023 has been remodeled, to align programming with the new guidelines concerning the methods of implementing the Social Inclusion Income (REIS) and other measures for interventions to combat poverty. The resolution aims to optimize the use of resources, ensuring adequate support for families in economic difficulty"
Finally, the "regional supplementary agreement for the regulation of relationships with general practitioners was approved. The Agreement aims to improve the care of chronic patients , financially incentivizing doctors to prescribe services aimed at promoting health, prevention, early diagnosis and combating the main risk factors for chronic non-communicable diseases".
Research funds
Again: on the proposal of the Councilor for Programming, Budget, Credit and Land Planning, Giuseppe Meloni, the Regional Council has approved the allocation of 30 million euros, for the three-year period 2024/26, relating to contributions for the Regional System of Scientific Research and technological innovation , following the reconstitution of the relevant Consulta, composed of representatives of the various private and public organizations that carry out research activities in the regional territory. The Council has financed the support of important projects of the Sardegna Ricerche agency, such as the regional scientific library, of the Universities of Cagliari and Sassari, with important contributions for Sardinian researchers, and the Agris agency for new interventions in Agriculture.
"We have great faith in research, considered the engine of development and the future for our territories - says the vice president of the Council. The priorities of our programming in the coming years will include the strengthening of basic research and support for researchers, with initiatives aimed both at retaining local talent and encouraging their return to our Island".
Also on the proposal of Councilor Meloni, several budget variations were approved to allow for the use of new resources or the reprogramming of previous ones already present in regional availability. Finally, the green light was given to the resolution relating to the Judicial Account of the Accounting Agent Treasurer of the Region relating to the 2023 financial year.
