A historic turning point has been reached at the International Flight Training School (IFTS) in Decimomannu. American pilots will train at the island's largest military airport. For the first time ever, the United States Air Force (USAF) has selected a school abroad, in a NATO country and, what's more, in Sardinia.

The program provides flight training operations for U.S. Air Force military personnel , and was defined in an agreement signed on August 22 by Antonio Conserva, Chief of Staff of the Air Force, and Brian Scott Robinson, head of the U.S. Air Force Air Education and Training Command.

They will be the first 10 American pilots to obtain their license abroad in 9 months , on the T-346A aircraft, currently the most advanced pre-operational training vehicle in the world.
