After 15 years, Oscar Washington Tabarez is no longer the coach of Uruguay.
The Football Association of the South American country has in fact announced that it has terminated the contract of the coach and the other members of the technical staff of the senior national team.
"This decision does not diminish the important contribution of Tabarez to Uruguayan football. We welcome and acknowledge the fundamental sporting achievements achieved in these 15 years, which have placed Uruguay once again at the top of world football", reads a note from the 'AUF.
The same note adds: "We express our appreciation for the professionalism and dedication during the long work process and its immeasurable legacy in the History of Selection".
To weigh on the exemption of Tabarez - former coach of Milan and Cagliari - the poor results obtained in the Celeste - which also includes the rossoblùs Nandez, Godin, Cacere and Pereiro - in qualifying for the 2022 World Cup. Just think of the four knockouts consecutive suffered in the latest releases.
