The Teatro Verdi will host the inauguration of the 464th academic year of the University of Sassari on Friday, February 6th, starting at 11:00 a.m. Raffaele Fitto, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, will also be present at the ceremony.

The entrance of the Academic Procession will be accompanied by the university anthem "Gaudeamus igitur" performed by the University of Sassari Choir, conducted by Maestro Irene Dore. The national anthem will follow.

The institutional greetings will be opened by Alessandra Todde, President of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia. Rector Gavino Mariotti will then deliver the inaugural speech on what has been accomplished and what needs to be accomplished by 2026. Speakers will include Nicoletta Pinna, Representative of Doctoral and Specialization Students in the Academic Senate, and Antonio Francesco Piana, Head of the Research and Quality Office.

The speech by Raffaele Fitto, Executive Vice-President of the European Commission, will be followed by the Solemn Declaration for the Opening of the 2025-2026 Academic Year. The program also includes a speech by the Goliardica Turritana Association.

The musical moments are entrusted to the singer Maria Giovanna Cherchi, accompanied on the piano by Manuel Rossi Cabizza, and the Tenores di Bitti “Mialinu Pira”.
