University of Sassari: Giovanni Soro is the new director general
She replaces Elisabetta Neroni, who has become Secretary General of the Region of Sardinia
He leaves his position as Central Director of the Maugeri Clinical Scientific Institutes in Milan to join the University of Sassari. The new general manager is Giovanni Soro from Sassari, as announced by the rector of the University of Sassari Gavino Mariotti after the resolution of the Board of Directors.
Giovanni Soro, who will be operational from 1 September, is a top manager who has important positions behind him such as that of General Director of the Fatebenefratelli hospitals in Milan, that of Commissioner of the AOU of Sassari and that of Central Operations Director of ICS Maugeri of Milan, a position he chose to leave to bring his high-level experience to the University of Sassari.
«I am very happy and very honored - said the Rector Mariotti - that a personality of such high experience, a true top manager of national caliber, has chosen to come and direct our University, leaving a position as prestigious as the one he held at Milan. This makes us proud because it is the confirmation that the University of Sassari is not a passing place but, on the contrary, highly coveted at the highest levels and Giovanni Soro's choice confirms this. And it also confirms how our university pursues the goal of reaching new levels of quality».
The new Director General replaces Elisabetta Neroni, another high-level professional who left the Sassari university after just over a year to take up the position of Secretary General of the Sardinia Region.
