Emanuela Loi lives again in the Faculty of Humanistic Studies of Cagliari on the Sa Duchessa Campus. During a solemn ceremony held this morning, courtroom 16 was named after the agent of the judge Paolo Borsellino's escort who died in the massacre in Via D'Amelio in Palermo on 19 July 1992. Present among others was his niece, who carries the same name and surname, also a policeman: «On occasions like these we must focus on the importance of commitment to building a more just society, which is still a value that cannot be taken for granted today», she said.

The Rector of the University of Cagliari Francesco Mola, the President of the Faculty Antonello Mura, the professor of contemporary history Gianluca Scroccu and the civil, religious and military authorities also took part in the event. "The example of a young woman who gave her life for the rule of law is very important for you young people," the commissioner said to the students.

The proposal to name the classroom after Emanuela Loi came from the board of the Philosophy degree course, which through the Faculty Council involved the University to start the process that led to this morning's ceremony.
