Unemployment and precarious employment: the young people of the Cagliari hinterland and Sulcis Iglesiente are not doing well.
In the survey on the quality of life by age group, published by the newspaper Il Sole 24 Ore, Southern Sardinia is in the penultimate position: 102nd position in the transformation of fixed-term contracts into permanent ones. The ranking photographs the situation from 18 to 35 years.
Cagliari is last in Italy for the fertility rate. As for children, Nuoro is in command on the island, in 36th place. Cagliari is 38th, Oristano 54th, Sassari 66th, South Sardinia 100th. A peculiarity: Cagliari is in first place nationally for the number of pediatricians, Oristano seventh.
Young people are doing better in Oristano (39th in Italy), then Sassari (51) and Nuoro (54). Cagliari is in the mid-lower rankings, 68th. Southern Sardinia is doing badly, among the last places for graduates and unemployment.
The ranking of quality of life for the elderly is decent. Nuoro is good, 39th. But then we are in the middle of the ranking in Oristano (52), Cagliari (58) and 66 (Sassari). On the other hand, Southern Sardinia is down, at 83rd position, last for the availability of non-pediatric nurses and urban gardens.
